To reduce the frictional resistance between the pipe wall and soil, thixotropic slurry must be injected between the pipe wall and the soil cavity during pipe jacking construction—this is especially necessary for long-distance or extra-long-distance pipe jacking projects. Typically, for DFHB pipe jacking, grouting holes are provided every 4 pipe sections, with 3 grouting holes evenly distributed on the same cross-section for each group. For pressure-conveying pipe jacking, the grouting holes are made of 304 or 316 stainless steel; for gravity-flow pipe jacking, the grouting holes are constructed from ABS plastic.
