DSD Old Sewer Pipeline Relining Rehabilitation Projects,Hong Kong

Year of Construction: 2010-2025 Application: Sewer Pipe Specifications: DN700 - DN2000/ SN10000 -SN20000/PN1 Total length of pipeline: 12500m Construction Method: Relining rehabilitation Feature: Non-stop flow sewer relining rehabilitation

On March 19, 2021, the Hong Kong Drainage Services Department signed a construction contract with a construction company. The project involves the rehabilitation of sections of sewer and stormwater drains, as well as their manholes, in the Hong Kong Island, Kwun Tong, Sai Kung, and Tai Po areas. The contract commenced on March 10, 2021, and has a duration of 34 months. The existing concrete pipes were leaking due to their age, and since many of the construction sites were located in busy downtown areas of Hong Kong, it was necessary to minimize the impact of construction on surrounding traffic, residents’ daily lives, and commuting. After evaluating numerous manufacturers and comparing products, the client ultimately selected our centrifugally cast fiberglass-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes as liner pipes for the water-service-continuous rehabilitation of the old pipelines.

The centrifugally cast GRP pipes feature a smooth inner wall, meeting the design flow requirements of the original pipeline network. Thanks to their lightweight construction, easy installation, excellent joint sealing performance, and ability to navigate tight bends, the project required only a small excavation site in the heart of Hong Kong’s downtown area. Furthermore, the entire process was completed without interrupting water supply, making the impossible possible.
