Wuxi Canal East Road Sewage Main Pipeline Rehabilitation Project
This project marks Jiangsu Province’s first trenchless rehabilitation of a large-diameter municipal sewage trunk line. The rehabilitation of the DN1800 reinforced concrete pipe along the main sewage conveyance channel on Yunhe East Road in Wuxi (the river-crossing section between Jingu Bridge and Tieta Factory) involves 1,888 meters of trenchless pipe rehabilitation, with a construction period of 90 calendar days.
Based on the current condition of the pipeline and inspection chambers, the trenchless lining repair methods are divided into two types: 1. Pipe Jacking Lining Method: Precise measurements and calculations are performed on the horizontal displacement and vertical deviation of the existing pipeline. A hydraulic pipe jacking machine is used to push a DN1600 centrifugally cast fiberglass-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipe into the pipeline. By controlling the axis of the continuous lining pipe, the orientation of the pipe sections is adjusted to ensure precise insertion into the pipeline. 2. Towing + In-Pipe Installation Method: A slow-speed towing machine is used to pull the DN1600 centrifugally cast GRP pipe into the DN1800 concrete pipe section by section. After pipe placement, workers perform underground operations inside the pipe, using specialized mechanical tools to butt-joint the pipe ends and complete the “pipe-in-pipe” installation.
