CNPC Jiangsu LNG Project and Sun Island Water Supply Project
The water supply pipeline for the Port Industrial Zone and Sun Island in the Yangkou Port Development Zone, Rudong County, Jiangsu Province, was primarily constructed to address the water supply needs of the CNPC Jiangsu Sun Island LNG receiving terminal. Given the project’s tight schedule and the coastal location of the pipeline installation site—which required laying the pipeline along a 12-kilometer bridge deck, with most of the pipeline exposed to the elements—the pipe material had to meet extremely high standards. It needed to offer excellent corrosion resistance, UV protection, and be easy and quick to install while ensuring reliable quality. Following a joint study by CNPC Jiangsu LNG Co., Ltd. and the design institute, our company’s centrifugally cast fiberglass-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes were selected for the project.
The project utilized a total of 3,765 meters of DN300/SN7500/PN8 standard direct bury pipes, 11,360 meters of UV-resistant exposed pipes, and related pipe fittings. Installation was simple and rapid, with nearly 1 km installed daily. The approximately 14 km of piping was completed in less than a month and passed the full-line pressure test on the first attempt. To date, the system has been operating smoothly, and both the client and the contractor are highly satisfied.
