Zhoushan Dinghai Central District Flood Control Improvement Project

Year of Construction: 2021 Application Field: Flood Control and Drainage Product Specification: DN2200/SN30000/PN8/8250KN Total length of pipeline: 1156m Construction Method: Curved Pipe Jacking (384m Radius of curvature )

The Dinghai Central District Flood Control Improvement Project in Zhoushan City consists of three main components: “Upper Retention,” “Western Diversion,” and “Central Elevation.” The “Upper Retention” component involves the construction of flood diversion channels and ecological corridors to intercept runoff from the upstream mountains. The “Western Diversion” phase involves the construction of reservoir flood diversion tunnels and supporting facilities, which will divert floodwaters from the northern hills of the Hongwei and Chengbei reservoirs to the Hongqiao Reservoir. The “Central Elevation” phase involves the construction of three pump stations—Xinhe, Weihai, and Chengdonghe—in the urban area. Upon completion, the total forced discharge capacity of the urban area will increase to 72 cubic meters per second, an 80% increase over the existing capacity, thereby enhancing the city’s ability to discharge floodwaters into the sea.

This project utilized DN2200 centrifugally cast fiberglass-reinforced plastic (GRP) pipes for pipe jacking. This section of the pipeline included 172 meters of curved pipe jacking with a minimum radius of curvature of only 384 meters. Construction proceeded very smoothly and received unanimous recognition from both the client and the contractor.
